Mumbai, Sept. 30 -- The equity benchmarks indices ended with moderate losses on Wednesday, extending their decline for a third consecutive session, weighed down by a marginal rise in crude oil prices and continued selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs). The Nifty settled below the 22,650 mark after hitting an intraday high of 22,809.35 in afternoon trade.

Investors remained cautious ahead of the release of US inflation data. Market participants will also track movements in crude oil prices and bond yields, along with central bank decisions in response to incoming economic data.

Pharma, metal and FMCG shares declined while media, realty and private bank shares advanced.
