Mumbai, Sept. 9 -- The domestic equity benchmarks traded with major cuts in the mid-afternoon trade. The Nifty hovered below the 23,550 mark. Auto shares declined after advancing in the past trading session.

At 14:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 472.98 points or 0.63% to 75,104.60. The Nifty 50 index declined 105.65 points or 0.45% to 23,528.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index shed 0.32%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,865 shares rose and 2,426 shares fell. A total of 207 shares were unchanged.

The Nifty Auto index declined 0.76% to 27,565.40. The index rose 0.28% in the past trading session.
