Mumbai, Oct. 19 -- The domestic equity benchmarks traded with major cuts in the mid-afternoon trade. The Nifty traded below the 22,850 mark. Realty shares extended losses for two consecutive trading sessions.

At 14:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex tanked 983.94 points or 1.32% to 73,754.99. The Nifty 50 index lost 295.55 points or 1.28% to 22,849.45.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 0.85% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 1.12%.

The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 2,511 shares rose and 1,772 shares fell. A total of 230 shares were unchanged.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty Realty index fell 0.73% to 819.95. The index fell 1.05% in the two consecutive trading sessions.
