Mumbai, Oct. 22 -- The domestic equity benchmarks traded with major cuts in the mid-afternoon trade. The Nifty traded below the 22,650 mark. Auto shares extended losses for three consecutive trading sessions.

At 14:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex tanked 469.76 points or 0.64% to 73,244.71. The Nifty 50 index lost 180.30 points or 0.79% to 22,631.05.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 0.85% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 1.12%.

The market breadth was weak. On the BSE, 2,511 shares rose and 1,772 shares fell. A total of 230 shares were unchanged.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty FMCG index fell 1.18% to 24,900.15. The index fell 3.3% in the three consecutive trading session.
