Mumbai, Oct. 23 -- The domestic equity benchmarks traded with major cuts in the mid-afternoon trade. The Nifty traded below the 22,550 mark. PSU bank shares declined after advancing in the past trading session.

At 14:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex tanked 299.14 points or 0.41% to 72,948.97. The Nifty 50 index lost 152 points or 0.68% to 22,536.70.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 2.31% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 2.57%.

Sellers outnumbered buyers. On the BSE, 755 shares rose and 3,569 shares fell. A total of 210 shares were unchanged.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty PSU Bank index fell 2.39% to 8,059.75. The index rose 0.07% in the past trading session.
