Mumbai, Nov. 4 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with modest gains in early trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,90 level. Barring IT, all other sectoral indices traded in the green on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 401.48 points or 0.52% to 77,294.27. The Nifty 50 index rose 118.25 points or 0.50% to 23,932.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 0.31% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.21%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,414 shares rose and 735 shares fell. A total of 177 shares were unchanged.
