Mumbai, Nov. 3 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with major gains in early trade. The Nifty traded above the 23,600 level. Barring pharma, all other sectoral indices traded in the green on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 720.97 points or 0.95% to 76,393.99. The Nifty 50 index rose 175.40 points or 0.75% to 23,616.20.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 0.87% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.86%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,414 shares rose and 735 shares fell. A total of 177 shares were unchanged.
