Mumbai, Sept. 21 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with modest gains in early trade. The Nifty traded tad above the 23,350 mark. Pharma, FMCG and realty shares advanced, while IT and PUS bank stocks declined on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 461.30 points or 0.61% to 74,748.70. The Nifty 50 index rose 47.65 points or 0.21% to 23,398.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index added 0.16% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.24%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,044 shares rose and 1,387 shares fell. A total of 234 shares were unchanged.
