Mumbai, Oct. 6 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with modest gains in early trade. The Nifty traded above the 22,550 level. Private bank, FMCG and metal shares advanced, while healthcare, pharma and IT stocks declined on the NSE.

At 09:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 119.91 points or 0.16% to 72,511.90. The Nifty 50 index rose 37.50 points or 0.17% to 22,593.90.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 0.50% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.60%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 2,085 shares rose and 910 shares fell. A total of 210 shares were unchanged.
