Nifty ends below 24,100 level; realty shares under pressure
Mumbai, Sept. 1 -- The key equity indices ended with minor losses on Tuesday, extending their decline for the second consecutive session, as escalating Middle East tensions pushed oil prices and bond yields higher, while heavyweight bank stocks reversed gains recorded in Monday's closing auction. Nifty closed below the 24,100 level. Healthcare, pharma and realty shares declined, while IT and FMCG stocks advanced.
As per provisional closing data, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 12.99 points or 0.02% to 76,944.28. The Nifty 50 index lost 24.60 points or 0.01% to 24,055.80.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 0.74% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index added 0.04%.
