Nifty below 23,550; FMCG shares under pressure
Mumbai, Sept. 9 -- The key equity benchmarks continued to trade with major losses in mid-morning trade, as rising energy costs, persistent foreign selling and uncertainty over US monetary policy heightened concerns over inflation, economic growth and the outlook for emerging-market investments. The Nifty traded below the 23,550 mark, while FMCG shares declined after advancing in the past trading session.
At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, declined 514.80 points or 0.68% to 75,064.64. The Nifty 50 index lost 118.45 points or 0.50% to 23,516.65.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.30% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index shed 0.33%.
