Mumbai, Nov. 6 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with modest gains in morning trade. The Nifty traded tad above 24,650 mark. IT shares extended gains for the second consecutive trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 583.26 points or 0.74% to 79,893.27. The Nifty 50 index rose 117.40 points or 0.48% to 24,654.00.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index declined 1.01% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 1.41%.

The market breadth was strong. On the BSE, 1,369 shares rose and 2,399 shares fell. A total of 229 shares were unchanged.

Buzzing Index:

The Nifty IT index rose 1.30% to 33,264.45. The index jumped 3.72% in the two consecutive trading sessions.
