Mumbai, Sept. 1 -- The key equity benchmarks traded with minor gains in mid-morning trade. The Nifty traded above the 24,100 level, while metal shares advanced after declining in the past trading session.

At 11:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 232.27 points or 0.30% to 77,189.54. The Nifty 50 index rose 44.80 points or 0.19% to 24,125.20.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index fell 0.15% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.41%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,074 shares rose and 1,875 shares fell. A total of 269 shares were unchanged.
