Nasdaq spurts more than 1%
Mumbai, Oct. 6 -- Supportive economic cues boosted the sentiments for US equities after volatile undertone in last few sessions. The US services sector business activity rose in September, with the pace of growth accelerating at its fastest rate in over five years due to a sharp increase in new orders. The Services Business Activity Index improved to 58.8 in the reported month, up by 2.3 index points compared to August. The US PMI Composite Output Index climbed by 2.4 index points month-over-month, landing at 58.4 in September. The Nasdaq jumped 1.1% to 27,477.31, the S&P 500 advanced 0.7% to 7,773.95 and the Dow rose 0.2% to 51,267.90. However, elevated treasury yields are likely to weigh on the overall activity.
