Market trade sideways; IT shares extent rally for 3rd day
Mumbai, July 28 -- The domestic equity indices traded sideways during morning trade, with the Nifty hovering around the 24,000 level, as investors remained cautious ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy decision and continued to assess the ongoing earnings season. IT stocks extended their gains for the third consecutive trading session, supported by sustained buying interest, while weakness in select banking and PSU stocks capped the market's upside.
At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, shed 5.02 points or 0.01% to 76,830.76. The Nifty 50 index rose 5.75 points or 0.02% to 23,999.85.
In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index shed 0.01% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index fell 0.44%.
