Market snaps two-day winning streak; Nifty ends below 23,650
Mumbai, May 15 -- The key domestic indices ended with marginal losses on Friday, snapping a two-session winning streak, as the rupee hit a fresh record low against the U.S. dollar, oil prices extended gains, and weakness in global markets weighed on investor sentiment. The Nifty ended below the 23,650 mark. Metal, PSU bank, and realty stocks declined, while media, IT, and FMCG shares advanced.
As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex declined 160.73 points or 0.21% to 75,237.99. The Nifty 50 index lost 46.10 points or 0.19% to 23,643.50. Over the past two trading sessions, the Sensex advanced 1.13%, while the Nifty 50 gained 1.33%.
