Mumbai, Oct. 5 -- The Nikkei 225 surged 2.4% to close at 69,947 on Monday, reaching a three-month high as technology and financial stocks drove the rally. Japanese shares also followed gains on Wall Street after weaker-than-expected US jobs data eased concerns about further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.

However, investors remained cautious due to elevated bond yields and ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East.

Technology and banking stocks led the gains. Advantest rose 4.3%, SoftBank Group gained 3%, and Tokyo Electron jumped 5.5%. Mitsubishi UFJ added 2%, while Sumitomo Mitsui rose 1.6%.
