Mumbai, Aug. 26 -- The key equity benchmarks traded sideways in the morning trade. The Nifty traded tad below the 24,300 level. PSU bank shares extended gains for the second consecutive trading session.

At 10:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, jumped 65.22 points or 0.08% to 77,724.11. The Nifty 50 index fell 39.45 points or 0.16% to 24,296.25.

The broader market outperformed the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index gained 0.46% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.49%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 2,326 shares rose and 1,353 shares fell. A total of 253 shares were unchanged.
