Mumbai, Oct. 14 -- The United States added an average of 24,750 jobs per week in the four weeks ending September 26, according to a preliminary report by Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) published on Tuesday.

In the previous week, the figure stood at 25,250. "After five straight weeks of strengthening, hiring slowed," ADP noted, warning that the numbers "are preliminary and could change as new data is added."
