Mumbai, April 2 -- US manufacturing activity picked up in March, showing steady growth compared to February, mainly driven by stronger domestic demand. The Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) rose to 52.3 from 51.6, marking the eighth straight month above the 50 level that signals expansion. Production and new orders both increased at solid rates, supported partly by businesses building safety stocks amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

However, export demand remained weak due to tariffs and shipping disruptions, limiting international sales.
