Mumbai, April 3 -- Applications for U.S. unemployment benefits dropped last week to one of the lowest levels seen in the past two years, indicating that layoffs remain limited.

Initial claims fell by 9,000 to 202,000 in the week ended March 28, according to data released by the Labor Department on Thursday.

Meanwhile, continuing claims, which reflect the number of people receiving benefits, increased to 1.84 million in the previous week.
