Mumbai, Aug. 27 -- The United States' real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 1.5% in the second quarter of 2026, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) said in its second estimate released on Wednesday. The figure matched the advance estimate and was lower than the 2.1% growth recorded in the first quarter.
The report attributed the annual rise in GDP to increases in consumer spending, investment, and exports, which were partially offset by a decline in government spending. Meanwhile, imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, also increased.
The price index for gross domestic purchases grew by 5.7% in the reported quarter, compared to 3.6% observed in the previous three-month period. The personal...
