Mumbai, Sept. 3 -- The United Kingdom's service sector activity improved in August, with the Services PMI Business Activity Index landing at 52.5, slightly up from July's figure of 52.1, according to a report by S&P Global released on Thursday.
Service providers suggested that the main reason for the moderate expansion was an increase in incoming new work, as well as rising optimism related to business activity expectations. On the other hand, employment numbers decreased at the slowest pace since October 2025. The PMI Composite Output Index also remained above the neutral 50.0 threshold, rising from July's 52.2 to 52.5 in August.
