Mumbai, Sept. 8 -- British Retail Consortium stated in a latest release that August was a disappointing month for retail sales. Despite pockets of growth, particularly in some food categories, overall performance was below the average for the past year. Total sales increased 0.7% year-on-year. Food was up 2.6% and Non-Food sales decreased by 0.8%, with online penetration rising to 36.4%
