Mumbai, April 22 -- The annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom stood at 3.3% in March, rising from 3% registered in January and February, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) revealed in its report published on Wednesday. Month-on-month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 0.7%.

The document attributed the rise in the overall rate to the prices of transport, principally motor fuels, a consequence of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. They rose by 4.7% compared to March 2025 and 2.4% from the previous month. Those were followed by the prices of housing and household services, and, to a lesser extent, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and recreation and culture.
