Mumbai, July 16 -- Production output in the United Kingdom decreased by 0.5% in May, compared with the revised-up figure in April, according to the Office for National Statistics' report on Thursday.

According to the report, mining and quarrying kept production subdued, falling 4.6%, as water and sewerage output dipped by 2.4% and electricity and gas slipped by 0.1%. On the other hand, manufacturing output rose slightly by 0.1%.

In the three months to April, production output increased by 0.1% compared to the previous three-month period.
