Mumbai, Sept. 7 -- South Africa's gross foreign exchange reserves rose to $75.95 billion in August from $73.45 billion in July, marking the highest level since May. The increase was primarily driven by higher gold prices, the maturity of forward exchange contracts and favourable valuation adjustments, partly offset by government-related foreign exchange payments. Gold and foreign exchange reserves both increased, while the central bank's forward position declined.
