Mumbai, Sept. 30 -- Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index was at 102.6 in August, marking a 1.7% drop from July and a 3.4% jump from the previous year, the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said in its preliminary report on Wednesday.
The index of inventories went down by 0.5%, and the inventory ratio rose by 1.7% month-on-month, while the shipments index decreased by 2.5%.
Year-on-year, the shipments index rose by 1.9%, while inventories and the inventory ratio both fell by 1.9%.
