Mumbai, May 29 -- Japan's housing starts rose 11.4% year-on-year in April 2026, rebounding sharply from a 29.3% decline in March and marking the first expansion since October last year. Growth was broad-based across all housing categories, led by a 64.8% surge in two-by-four homes, while owner-occupied and rental housing also posted strong double-digit gains, signaling improving momentum in the country's residential construction sector.
