Mumbai, April 30 -- Turnover in retail trade in Germany fell 2% in March in real terms compared to the same month a year ago, according to data released by the country's statistical office Destatis on Thursday. In nominal terms, retail sales were down 0.5% year-on-year.

Food sales decreased 2.7% in real terms, while sales in the non-food sectors declined 1% in real terms.

On a monthly basis, adjusted for calendar and seasonal variations, retail sales in real terms slid 2%, while they were down 1.5% in nominal terms compared to February.
