Mumbai, June 25 -- Australian household spending rose 1.3% m/m in May 2026, recovering from a 1.1% decline in April, with gains across eight of the nine major consumption categories. The rebound was led by clothing and footwear, miscellaneous goods and services, transport, and food spending, while expenditure on hotels, cafes and restaurants continued to increase. On an annual basis, household spending advanced 5.5%, reflecting resilient consumer demand.
