Mumbai, Feb. 19 -- Australia's unemployment rate held steady at 4.1% in January 2026, marking its lowest level since May and reinforcing signs of ongoing labor market resilience, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Employment rose by 17,800 to a fresh record of 14.70 million, driven by a strong increase in full-time jobs, while part-time employment declined. The participation rate remained unchanged at 66.7%, as the underemployment rate edged higher to 5.9%. Total hours worked increased, pointing to firm labor demand despite some mixed signals within job composition.
