Mumbai, Aug. 18 -- Australia's Westpac-Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment Index jumped 6.0% MoM to 88.9 in August, marking its strongest gain since November 2025. Household financial confidence improved sharply, while concerns over further interest-rate increases eased among mortgage holders. The outlook for the economy and major household purchases also strengthened, although sentiment remained nearly 10% below last year's level.
