Coal India gains as August coal supplies rise 5.5%
Mumbai, Sept. 2 -- Coal supplies to the power sector increased 4.5% to 48.46 MT in August FY27 from 46.39 MT a year earlier, while supplies to the non-regulated sector rose 9.6% to 12.12 MT from 11.06 MT.
For the first five months of FY27 through August, total coal supplies increased 6.70% to 322.90 MT from 302.60 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year. The higher supplies enabled Coal India to liquidate around 55 MT of pithead coal stocks during the period. The company currently has approximately 76 MT of coal available at its pitheads.
With intense rainy spells gradually receding and drier months approaching, Coal India said it is preparing to ramp up production and supplies.
