Mumbai, Aug. 31 -- COMEX copper came under pressure tracking weakness in US equities on Friday. The Nasdaq slid 138.93 points or 0.5 percent to 26,402.42 and the S&P 500 fell 19.23 points or 0.3 percent to 7,711.76. The narrower Dow posted a more modest loss, edging down 9.45 points or less than a tenth of a percent to 53,559.99. Meanwhile, renewed conflict between US and Iran is accentuating inflation concerns at a time when Fed is already sounding hawkish on interest rates. This is also keeping dollar index supported above 99.50 mark and weighing on the red metal which is currently quoting slightly lower at $6.64 per pound.
