Mumbai, Oct. 7 -- Reserve Bank of India noted in its monetary policy report for October 2026 that onion prices have increased by about 84 per cent since end-June (up to September 30) due to depletion/some spoilage of stored rabi stocks and concerns over the timing and quality of kharif arrivals amid uneven rainfall. Although onion prices exhibit a seasonal uptick during August-September before the arrival of the kharif crops, the magnitude of increase has been much higher this year than the historical average.
