Mumbai, Sept. 4 -- India Meteorological Department or IMD has stated in a latest update that all-India weekly cumulative rainfall was 18% below normal of long-period average (LPA) for the week ending 02 September 2026, due to subdued monsoon rainfall activity over all meteorological sub-divisions of the south peninsular and west India. It noted that while the eastern & adjoining central India received normal to above normal rainfall in association with two successive low-pressure systems and their slow west-north-westward movement. Cumulatively from 1 June to 02 September 2026, the country as a whole had rainfall under the normal category, i.e., -13% of LPA.
