Nairobi, April 8 -- The share of women in the top 440 policy-level jobs across Kenya's public service is below the legal limit of one gender occupying at least a third of the positions.
Analysis of data from the Public Service Commission reveals that men continue to dominate top leadership, particularly at the policy level, where critical government decisions are made.
The data shows that women accounted for 23 percent of the policy roles in the year to June 2025, compared to 25.2 percent a year earlier.
Men at 77 percent cemented their dominance in shepherding policy that is intended to solve public problems, including job creation and the elimination of discrimination in access of resources.
