Nairobi, April 6 -- The Supreme Court has declined to stop construction of a contested 16-storey apartment complex in Nairobi's Lavington, allowing the project to proceed as a legal battle continues.

In the ruling, the five-judge bench led by Chief Justice Martha Koome dismissed an application by Lavington residents seeking conservatory orders to halt the development on Mbaazi Avenue pending an appeal.

The judges found that the applicants had failed to demonstrate immediate or concrete environmental harm to justify stopping the project.
