Nairobi, April 30 -- Four landlords in Meru town, who were seeking to recover more than Sh52 million from Tusker Mattress Limited, owner of the collapsed Tuskys supermarkets, have suffered a setback after the High Court struck out their case.

The court dismissed the landlords' claim seeking eviction, forfeiture of the lease and recovery of rent arrears and utilities tied to a commercial property in Meru town.

The once-dominant Tuskys supermarket chain collapsed between 2020 and 2023, with the process finalised by a court liquidation order in September 2023.

It collapsed under mounting debt, supplier disputes and internal wrangles. At its peak, Tuskys operated dozens of outlets across Kenya and the region.
