Nairobi, April 7 -- Auditor- General Nancy Gathungu has flagged irregular salary payments to a senior officer of the Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited (KPRL) who continued to earn from the company despite failing to resume duty after the expiry of a secondment period to a State department.

According to the audit report, the company's Chief Operating Officer (COO) had been seconded to the State Department of Petroleum in April 2023 for an additional two-year term ending March 31, 2025.

Ms Gathungu, however, also flagged the extension of the secondment, saying it was granted despite the officer having already exhausted the maximum temporary transfer allowed.
