Nairobi, Sept. 10 -- Canvases stand on easels outside a quiet building in Nairobi, catching the afternoon light.

On one canvas, bold white lines slice the surface into triangles and narrow strips, and inside each shape a storm of green, yellow and blue threads twists and loops over itself, with small red dots scattered through the tangle like drops of paint that fell and stayed.

On another, the same white lines form a different pattern, and the colours shift into lime green, orange and black, with the red dots again pulling the eye toward the centre.

On the third, red and yellow triangles push against patches of blue and purple, and the same wild, looping lines run through everything, holding the whole piece together the way veins hold...
