Nairobi, April 8 -- Donor funding to the Equity Group Foundation (EGF) has shrunk for the first time in seven years following Donald Trump's decision to cut back foreign aid, which has affected the bank's social programmes, including its 'Wings to Fly' education scholarships.
The foundation, a subsidiary of Equity Group Holdings, disclosed its donor funding fell by 44.7 percent in the year ended December 2025 to Sh2.93 billion, compared to Sh5.32 billion the previous year.
Consequently, Equity Group increased its cash funding in the foundation by 61.8 percent to Sh701 million, up from Sh433 million as it sought to plug the gap left by donors.
