Equity Bank, customer clash over supermarket embarrassment claims
Nairobi, April 30 -- Regional lender Equity Bank (Kenya) and one of its customers in Nairobi are embroiled in a court tussle over an alleged botched transfer in which funds were debited but not credited, leading to a failed transaction at a supermarket.
The dispute, now before the High Court in Milimani, stems from instructions issued by an advocate to move money from his law firm's client account to his personal account, both held at the bank.
Court papers show he instructed the bank to debit the account and credit the other. The law firm is the second plaintiff in the suit, which is centred on alleged breach of customer bank relationship/contract leading to defamation and damages for constitutional infringements.
