Srinagar, March 4, March 6 -- The unusually high temperatures and a sharp rainfall deficit have hit plant nurseries across the Valley, prompting farmers to delay planting new trees. It has badly impacted the nursery industry estimated to be worth about Rs 100 crores. According to MeT officials, the Valley has recorded daytime temperatures between 20 and 21 degrees Celsius since mid-February - about 9-11 degrees above normal for the period.Rainfall has also been scarce.The MeT official predicted further rise in day temp by 2-3degC at most places in the next 3 days.In February, Srinagar recorded only 5.3 mm of precipitation, the lowest for the month since 1960, according to meteorological data.The unusual weather in the Valley has disrupted...
