Srinagar flyover faces sports, green concerns
Srinagar, Aug 31, Sept. 1 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government has moved ahead with the proposed vehicular flyover in Srinagar despite objections from civil society groups, with concerns mounting over its potential impact on sports infrastructure, private properties and heritage Chinar trees. The Public Works Department (PWD) has awarded the project for a Vehicular Overpass (VOP)/bridge/flyover from Convent Road (Joggers Park) to Maulana Azad Link Road via Shirwani Road, including a crossing over the Jhelum.The project was tendered in May at an estimated cost of Rs.114.70 crore.
