Srinagar, Oct 6, Oct. 6 -- The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has directed all its Gazetted Officers to adopt home composting at their respective residences, with submission of geotagged photographs made mandatory for compliance and release of their salary for the current month. The directive was issued through Order No. 1158 of 2026 dated October 6 as part of the Corporation's efforts to strengthen waste management at source, promote decentralised processing of biodegradable waste and reduce the volume of waste transported to municipal processing facilities.
