Srinagar, Sep 24, Sept. 24 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Government is undertaking a rationalization exercise to address staffing shortages in schools with higher pupil-teacher ratios, Education Minister Sakeena Itoo informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Responding to a question from Uri MLA Sajjad Shafi, Itoo said that 10 out of 375 government schools in the Uri constituency have a pupil-teacher ratio exceeding 40. She said additional teaching staff is being deployed in understaffed schools through rationalization and better allocation of available resources.
