Rising Food Prices Force Kashmir Families to Cut Back on Meat, Eggs
Srinagar, July 15, July 15 -- Escalating prices of essential food items have emerged as a growing concern across Kashmir, with consumers alleging inadequate market regulation and arbitrary pricing by retailers, adding to the financial strain on households. Residents from several districts said mutton is being sold for Rs.800-Rs.820 per kilogram, while chicken is retailing between Rs.200 and Rs.210 per kilogram. Paneer is reportedly priced at around Rs.310 per kilogram, and a tray of eggs is selling for nearly Rs.250 in many markets.
