Srinagar, June 26, June 27 -- Police on Friday arrested an alleged drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Mal Tang, Dalgate, in Srinagar and recovered 22.24 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Umer Mushtaq Khan, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a resident of New Colony, Sopore.According to police, the accused was intercepted during a routine checking operation conducted by Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh. During his search, officers recovered 22.24 grams of heroin-like substance, Rs 8,000 in cash and a mobile phone.The recovered contraband was seized and the accused was taken into custody.Police have registered FIR No. 49/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic ...
